Characterization of Potential Cellulose from Hylocereus Polyrhizus (Dragon Fruit) peel: A Study on Physicochemical and Thermal Properties

نویسندگان

چکیده

The strict environmental regulations to overcome the drawbacks of consumption and disposal non-renewable synthetic materials have motivated this investigation. physical, chemical, morphological, thermal properties Hylocereus Polyrhizus peel (HPP) powder obtained from raw were examined in study. physical analyzes discovered that moisture content, density, water holding capacity 9.70%, 0.45 g/cm3 , 98.60%, respectively. Meanwhile, chemical composition analysis revealed was significantly high cellulose contents (34.35%) other bio-peel wastes. crystallinity index 32.76%, according further X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. stability using thermogravimetric (TGA) found thermally stable at 204°C. morphological study via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed a shriveled irregular geometry surface. demonstrated peak range representing major functional groups responsible for pectin’s properties. Thus, findings has potential development biodegradable renewable materials.

Microencapsulation of Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Peel Extract Using Maltodextrin

Dragon fruit peel can be utilized as a natural dye due to betacyanin content, redviolet pigment of betalain group. Betacyanin is unstable to temperature, oxygen, and light, consequently microencapsulation technology is required to maintain its stability. This study aims to determine microencapsulation efficiency of dragon fruit peel extract with variation of encapsulation ratio and to perceive ...

Isolation and identification of myo-inositol crystals from dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus).

Crystals isolated from Hylocereus polyrhizus were analyzed using four different approaches--X-ray Crystallography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and identified as myo-inositol. The X-ray crystallography analysis showed that the unit-cell parameters were: a = 6.6226 (3) Å, b = 12.0462 ...

Pigment identification and antioxidant properties of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus)

The aim of this study was to identify pigments present in the red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) and to further investigate the antioxidant properties in this fruit. Pigment was identified using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and results confirmed the presence of betanin in sample at a retention time of 11.5 min which corresponded to the retention time of the betanin st...

Optimization of Processing Parameters for Extraction of Amylase Enzyme from Dragon (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Peel Using Response Surface Methodology

The main goal of this study was to investigate the effect of extraction conditions on the enzymatic properties of thermoacidic amylase enzyme derived from dragon peel. The studied extraction variables were the buffer-to-sample (B/S) ratio (1:2 to 1:6, w/w), temperature (-18°C to 25°), mixing time (60 to 180 seconds), and the pH of the buffer (2.0 to 8.0). The results indicate that the enzyme ex...
